While most of us only think of voting in the November General Election, there are actually several special elections every calendar year. At these special elections local issues are generally the only items on the ballot. The next special election will be held on May 7th. As this special election approaches, be sure to take the time and familiarize yourself with the issues that you will be voting on. Your county’s Board of Election should be able to provide you with a list of all items up for consideration in your precinct.
As Catholics we are called to defend and promote the teachings of the Church. We can start by ensuring that we are supporting the issues and candidates that are in accordance with the beliefs of the Catholic Church. The May 7th Special Election is an opportunity for us to both exercise our duties as lay faithful and American citizens.
