We are watching an historic moment of breathtaking ugliness. Humanity rarely stoops this low and it is staggering when we do: the slaughter in Rwanda and Burundi, the Nazi Holocaust of Jewish peoples and now the ruthlessly cruel torture and killing by horrible methods of Iraqi Christians. Social media has made it impossible for even CNN and MSNBC to ignore any longer. Even the Obama administration has had to act, although in a limited and inadequate way to truly save these lives. The scope of the slaughter is so large and maniacal that it cannot be ignored.
